Originally introduced as a holiday item at our former store The Field House in 2011, our hand made incense pyres are simple way to scent your space using the ancient smoke ritual.
Each tin contains 20+ scented black charcoal cones. The tin's lid may act as a burner but we recommend finding a special dish or vessel that represents you to enhance the experience.
- Place incense cone on a stable, heat resistant surface such as an incense burner, stone, seashell, tile or dish.
- Carefully light the tip of the cone and let burn for 10 to 15 seconds until an ember has formed and then blow out.
- Allow to smoke until the cone has burned all the way through.
- Dispose of ash in water to prevent risk of fire.
AI [geranium + moss] 2014 - Pronounced 'eye' and means love in Japanese and Chinese. There is an modern elegance about this green scent the reminds us of a marble corridor lined with lush dark blooming flora.
BALTHAZAR [frankincense + myrrh] 2013 - SEASONAL - Our limited edition holiday incense, full of bright tangerine and ancient biblical resins, will remind some of religious ceremonies and rituals. This creation was inspired by the story of the Three Kings, and our favorite of the wise men Balthazar. Thought to have come from Ethiopia, or somewhere else in Africa, Balthazar's gift of myrrh to the son of god was a symbol of his mortality and future suffering through an anointing oil used on the dead.
BLOOD COUNTESS [dragon's blood resin + frankincense] 2012 - Our best selling incense is dark, warm, a little sweet with a hint of spice. Inspired by its main ingredient dragon's blood resin from the Socotra dragon tree or Dracaena cinnabari, we thought of the Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed of 17th century Hungary who bathed in the blood of virgins to regain her look of youth and was nicknamed the Blood Countess.
FLOWER GIRL - Name changed. See Tilde below.
GORGO [beeswax + wood bouquet] 2014 - Gorgo is inspired by the story of Gorgo, Queen of Sparta and wife to King Leonidas. She was most famous for discovering a secret message on a wood tablet covered in beeswax warning the Spartans of Xerxes' pending invasion. With its brilliant layers of contrasting woods and beeswax, Gorgo will endow any space with an air of preparedness for whatever comes next.
HEKKES [flower nectar + oud] 2014 - Our most extravagant incense fragrance to date, Hekkes builds on an exotic oud wood base with a rich and sappy floral nectar accord balancing the immersive comfort of flowers and the attractive edge of the world's most sought after wood. Hekkes is inspired by the desire for beauty so inconceivably immense that it could only exist beyond reality.
HIBERNUS [amber + wintergreen] 2013 - SEASONAL - Hibernus is a cool, arctic fragrance with a base of warm fireside comfort. Burning Hibernus transports us to the frozen tundra, to the moment when you finally relax after a long day spent working in the snow. The name Hibernus means winter in Latin.
IZBA [lavender + wood] 2012 - Named after a typical Slavic peasant home, similar to a log cabin, made from simple tools and no nails. This scent of herbal lavender and rustic old wood reminds of the Russian country homes of our travels.
MANTIS [green tea + myrtle leaf] 2015 - The word mantis translates literally to the "diviner", and this title was given to these long bodied insects with enlarged fore legs because they were believed by the ancient Greeks to posses supernatural powers. Mantis captures the verdant leaves, foliage, needles, and grass throughout which the praying mantis makes its home to its woody depths, and that which we refer to as nature.

SCEPTER [labdanum + saffron] 2015- The Egyptian god Osiris is often depicted wielding a scepter, but what has been interpreted as the scepter of Osiris was actually more likely a tool use to collect labdanum resin directly from the goats who gathered it in their fur while wandering the fields of rockrose. Rays of saffron swirl with ethereal wisps of opopnax and grounding African copal to create a relaxing pleasantry between two worlds. Labdunm and cistus combine to form the heart of this resinous accord.
SENSOR [frankincense + apricot] 2015 - Two middle eastern treasures join to form a effervescent and opulent futuristic accord of luminescent apricot over a bed of intoxicatingly reverent incense and wood.
