The Infidels smells almost exactly like a very specific gummy candy that I can't remember the name of. With that characterization out of the way, it smells absolutely fantastic, and I recommend that most people should try this on the skin. It's at its core a floral fragrance built out in a number of directions to smell ultimately somewhere in between fruity, floral, and woody. It is also surprisingly fairly light on the spectrum of heavy-light notes, with a focus more on classy briskness than powerful weight. Pink pepper with lemon and elemi are used in just the right amounts to give a very pleasant edge to the fragrance, before moving into May rose, Turkish Rose, Sambac Jasmine, Egyptian Jasmine, Burmese Magnolia, Iris, and Comoros Ylang Ylang, which give the fragrance most of its character. As you can see, there's a lot of floral notes competing for center stage, but it's really the roses that hold the spotlight bolstered up by the other floral notes which pull the roses in different directions. The fruity lemon also pulls the roses away from their basic shape, resulting in the obscure candy-like scent. The base, although quite complex and laden with heavy notes, is fairly light. Essentially there's a sweet but mostly dry resinous accord of amber, opoponax, patchouli, cistus, peruvian balm and bourbon vanilla, contrasted by faintly audible hints of Virginia cedar and vetiver, with a sturdy foundation of sandalwood. Over time as the scent wears the amber notes do begin to take form. Really what the base is good for is not to make The Infidels a loud, powerhouse screamer but to give insane longevity to its delicious floral-fruit-wood elements. The Infidels, for falling somewhere strangely in between being a fruity, floral, and woody fragrance, belongs in a scent family all of its own, and this is why you should smell it.
